If you have recently switched to the Arc browser due to its user-oriented interface, seamless navigation, and streamlined management, grouping tabs is another area you should know about!

The Arc browser for both macOS and Windows is highly effective at tab management, although the capabilities are limited on the latter, especially the AI integration. While Arc for macOS offers features like Tidy Tabs, which use AI to automatically group tabs based on the content, it is yet to be released for Windows.

Nevertheless, if you have downloaded Arc on Windows, tab groups are still a possibility!

How do I group tabs in the Arc browser on Windows?

  1. Launch the Arc browser, click the Add icon, select New folder, and enter a name for it. The folder you just created will be listed above the New Tab section.create new folder arc
  2. Now, hold and drag any active tab under the folder you just created and place it there.arc browser tab group
  3. You can similarly group more tabs under the same folder.

On the Arc browser for Windows, you can only group tabs under a folder, given the absence of Arc Max, i.e., the AI functionalities. For effective management, I recommend you create different folders for individual categories and organize tabs under them.

Also, if you are concerned about group tabs taking up space in Arc, simply click on any folder to collapse all tabs within it. Clicking on it again will expand the tabs. Besides, you can create or export spaces in Arc and then add folders and group tabs within them!

Remember, this manual approach only applies until The Browser Company, the team behind the Arc browser, deploys Arc Max on the Windows ecosystem.

How do I group tabs using Tidy Tabs in Arc?

  • Enabling Tidy Tabs: Launch Arc > open the Settings > go to the Max tab > enable the toggle next to Tidy Tabs.
  • Using Tidy Tabs: Once enabled, simply move the cursor to the sidebar > click on the Broom icon over the active tabs > all tabs will be organized under sections based on the content.

Although the Tidy Tabs feature groups all tabs automatically, you can rearrange them, move them between sections, or convert a group into a folder. Also, if you open any new tabs, clicking on the Tidy Tabs option again will automatically move them to a relevant group or create a new one.

As I said, grouping tabs is much simpler in the Arc browser for macOS than they are in Windows. But it’s this way only for a limited time. Soon, Arc Max should make its way to the Windows ecosystem, and you won’t have to manually group tabs in Arc under folders!

If you are new to the browser and find it automatically archiving tabs, consider creating bookmarks or pinned tabs in Arc.
