Microsoft introduced the new Surface devices: Surface Laptop 6, which can reduce display reflections up to 50%, and Surface Pro 10, which Microsoft says has the best display ever on such a device, will be shipped to customers starting April 9, but they can be pre-ordered now.

Alongside the latest Intel® Core™ Ultra processors, and equipped with the NPUs ready to take on AI challenges, the new Surface laptops are also quite sustainable. Why? Well, Microsoft has equipped them with QR codes on their internal components, allowing users to easily identify them by scanning these codes.

Microsoft says that this decision will have a significant impact on reducing carbon emissions and waste reduction benefits. But it also allows users to repair their Surface laptops by themselves, without even having to visit a service shop.

Both devices are even easier to service and repair with built-in QR codes that provide convenient access to service guides. In Surface Pro 10 we’ve also included internal markings that identify the number of screws and driver types needed for key components. This increased device repairability can offer significant carbon emissions and waste reduction benefits. We are also making trade-in more convenient and secure for our commercial customers in the U.S. to help limit device waste.

How can you repair your Surface laptops? By simply replacing the damaged internal part with a new one. For instance, for the Surface Laptop 6, you will be able to replace the following parts:

Display assembly (including cameras)
Keyboard assembly
SSD
Battery
Motherboard (including CPU and soldered RAM)
Surface Connect
Thermal module
Audio jack
Speakers
Touchpad
Casing
Rubber feet

For the Surface Pro 10, you’ll be able to replace the following parts:

Display module
SSD
Motherboard (including CPU and soldered RAM)
Surface Connect Port
Thermal module
Microphones
SSD door
Speakers
Casing
Front and rear cameras (separately)
Power and volume buttons
Kickstand
